Person Struck, Killed By Amtrak Train In Bucks County: Officials

One person was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Bucks County, officials confirmed.

The victim was walking on the railroad tracks near Edgely Avenue and Pitt Avenue in Bristol Township when they were struck around 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, an Amtrak spokeswoman told Daily Voice.

There were no reported injuries among the 265 passengers and crew onboard train 185, which was traveling from New York to Norfolk, Virginia, the representative added.

"Amtrak has been working with local law enforcement to investigate the incident," she said.

Trespassing along railroad rights-of-way is the leading cause of rail-related deaths in America, and railroad crossing incidents are the second leading cause of rail-related deaths in America, according to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
